Udaipur to Ahmedabad Taxi

Udaipur to Ahmedabad Taxi and One Way Cab

Udaipur to Ahmedabad is 260 km and four to five hours on NH48 through Himmatnagar – one of the easier long drives out of Udaipur, on a good four-lane highway for almost the whole way. It is also the main road link between Rajasthan and Gujarat, which is why we run it several times a week.

We take Udaipur to Ahmedabad taxi bookings as one-way drops and as round trips, with drops at Ahmedabad hotels, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad railway station or any address in the city. We run the reverse leg too.

Worth Knowing Before You Travel

Gujarat is a dry state. Alcohol is prohibited, and carrying it across the border is an offence, not a formality. If that matters to your plans, it is better to know before the checkpoint than at it.

The state permit. Crossing from Rajasthan into Gujarat carries a permit charge for commercial vehicles. We include it in the fare we quote rather than adding it at the border, so the figure you agree is the figure you pay.

Airport timings. If you are catching a flight from Ahmedabad, tell us the departure time and we will set the pickup to allow for the drive plus a buffer. Four to five hours is reliable on this road, but it is still 260 km.

Stops Worth Making on the Way

  • Shamlaji – a 16th-century Vishnu temple about 130 km from Udaipur, roughly the midpoint, and a natural tea stop.
  • Idar – hilltop fort and the old town, a short detour.
  • Adalaj Stepwell – 18 km north of Ahmedabad, a five-storey 15th-century stepwell, and the best thing to add to this drive if you have an hour.
  • Modhera Sun Temple and Rani ki Vav – both are a longer detour towards Patan, better as a separate day than squeezed into the transfer.

What to See in Ahmedabad

If the drop is the start of a Gujarat trip: Sabarmati Ashram, where Gandhi lived from 1917 to 1930; the Jama Masjid and Bhadra Fort in the walled city; the Adalaj stepwell just north; Akshardham at Gandhinagar; and the pols – the dense old-city neighbourhoods that earned Ahmedabad its UNESCO World Heritage City listing. The city is also the jumping-off point for the Rann of Kutch in winter.

One Way or Round Trip?

We quote both. On a one-way drop the car still has to return empty, and that empty leg – dead mileage – is built into most one-way fares in Rajasthan. Where we can pair your drop with a passenger travelling the other way it disappears and the fare comes down, which is why it is worth giving us a specific date rather than assuming the per-km rate times the distance is final.

What we will not do is quote one figure and add the return leg as a surprise at the end of the journey. See our Udaipur outstation taxi page for all routes.

Frequently Asked Questions: Udaipur to Ahmedabad Taxi

Distance, fares, the Gujarat permit and one-way pricing.

How far is Udaipur from Ahmedabad by road?
About 260 km, which takes four to five hours on NH48 via Himmatnagar and Shamlaji. It is mostly good four-lane highway, so the time is reliable.
How much does a Udaipur to Ahmedabad taxi cost?
We quote on our published per-kilometre rates – ₹12/km for a sedan, ₹16/km for an Ertiga or Innova, ₹18–20/km for an Innova Crysta – with fuel, driver allowance, state tax, toll and the Gujarat permit charge included. Call +91 86193 15547 for a firm figure for your date, as a one-way drop and a round trip price differently.
Is there a state permit charge for Udaipur to Ahmedabad?
Yes. Crossing from Rajasthan into Gujarat carries a permit charge for commercial vehicles. We include it in the quote rather than adding it at the border.
Do you provide a one way taxi from Udaipur to Ahmedabad?
Yes, and the reverse as well. On a one-way drop the car returns empty, so that leg is normally reflected in the fare – unless we can pair your trip with a passenger travelling the other way, in which case the price comes down. You get the figure before you book either way.
Can you drop me at Ahmedabad airport?
Yes. We drop at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, at Ahmedabad railway station, at any city hotel and at Gandhinagar. Give us your flight time and we will set the pickup with a buffer for the 260 km.
Can I carry alcohol from Udaipur to Ahmedabad?
No. Gujarat is a dry state and alcohol is prohibited there, so carrying it across the border is an offence rather than a formality. Worth planning around before you reach the checkpoint.
What are good stops on the Udaipur to Ahmedabad drive?
Shamlaji temple at roughly the midpoint is the natural tea stop. Idar has a hilltop fort a short detour off the highway. Closer to Ahmedabad, the Adalaj stepwell is 18 km north of the city and the single best hour you can add to this drive.
Which vehicle should I book for this route?
For two people travelling light, a sedan is fine. For a family with suitcases, take an Ertiga or Innova – this is a 260 km drive, not an airport hop. Innova Crysta if you want the extra comfort, and a Tempo Traveller or Urbania for nine or more.
How long should I allow if I have a flight to catch?
Allow five hours for the drive plus whatever buffer your airline wants for check-in. The road is good and the time is dependable, but a 260 km transfer is not something to start three hours before departure.
How do I book a Udaipur to Ahmedabad cab?
WhatsApp +91 99838 89373 or email rajasthanonwheeltours@gmail.com with your date, pickup time and address, drop address, passenger count and luggage. A 25% advance confirms the vehicle.
