Fort Sightseeing Tour Package in Jaipur

Fort Sightseeing Tour Package in Jaipur

Jaipur has three forts on the ridge north of the city, and they are usually treated as one stop. They are not. Amber is the palace, Jaigarh is the fortress that defended it, and Nahargarh is the watchpost with the view back over Jaipur – and a day that takes all three in the right order, at the right times, is a far better day than a coach tour of Amber alone.

We run it as a full day with a private AC car and a licensed guide on request.

The Right Order for the Day

8:00 AM – Amber Fort. Go first, and go early. By ten the courtyards are full and the Sheesh Mahal is a queue. Allow two to two and a half hours.

10:30 – Panna Meena ka Kund. The stepwell five minutes from Amber, with its criss-crossing stairs. Twenty minutes, and almost nobody goes.

11:00 – Jaigarh Fort. Up the hill from Amber, connected by a road and by the old passage. Jaivana, the enormous 18th-century cannon, is here. Allow an hour and a half.

1:00 – lunch.

3:00 – Nahargarh Fort. The smallest of the three and the one people skip, which is a mistake – Madhavendra Bhawan inside is a set of nine linked suites built for the maharaja’s queens, and the view over Jaipur from the ramparts is the best in the city. Stay for sunset if your day allows.

On the way back – Jal Mahal. The water palace on Man Sagar lake, viewed from the road. A photo stop rather than a visit, since the building is not open.

Detail below on each fort. Note that Amber’s elephant rides are limited in number and operate in the morning only; we neither sell nor arrange them, and the jeep ride up is the alternative.

Fort Sightseeing Tour Package in Jaipur

We offer affordable Fort Sightseeing Tour package , it covers all popular forts in jaipur.

Day 1: Arrival Jaipur

Meeting and assistance upon arrival as our representatives welcome you and escort you to your car. Later you will be taken to visit:

Amber Fort

About 11km north of Jaipur stands the spectacular Amber Fort built by Maharaja Man Singh. A wonderful example of Rajput architecture, it overlooks a lake which reflects its many terraces and pavilions. Amber is also known for the spectacular Sheesh Mahal, Jai Mandir, Diwan-i-Am, Sikh Niwas and the small Kali Temple.

Later in the afternoon you will be taken for lunch and then continue your sightseeing visiting:

Jaigarh Fort

Located on one of the peaks of the Aravalli range of hills is built about 400 m above the Amber Fort. It provides an excellent view of Aravalli hills and the Amber Fort down below. The fort features a cannon named “Jaivana”, which was manufactured in the fort precincts and was then the world’s largest cannon on wheels.

Nahargarh Fort

Stands on the edge of the Aravalli Hills. The view of the city from the fort is breath-taking. The fort was originally named Sudarshangarh, but it became known as Nahargarh, which means ‘abode of tigers’. The fort was constructed as a place of retreat on the summit of the ridge above the city. Walls extended over the surrounding hills, forming fortifications that connected this fort to Jaigarh, the fort above the old capital of Amber.

Tour End

“We do hope the flavor of India will remain on your taste buds for all times to come and hopefully would kindle an indelible fondness for the country and her people; Thank you for being our guest, and as we say in India ‘Please Come back Soon”

Practical Notes

  • Amber involves a climb. From the car park up to the main gate is a steady uphill walk. Jeeps run it for those who would rather not, and our driver can drop you as close as vehicles are allowed.
  • Buy the composite ticket if you are seeing several sites – it covers Amber, Nahargarh, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal and others, and works out cheaper than separate entries. Entry fees are not part of the tour fare.
  • The light sound show at Amber runs in the evening and is a separate ticket and a separate trip back out.
  • Take a guide at Amber. It is a large palace with almost no interpretation, and the Sheesh Mahal, the Ganesh Pol and the magic flower carving all need explaining to register.
  • Water and a hat from March onwards. All three forts involve walking in the open.

Adding the City

The forts are a full day on their own. Jaipur’s city sights – City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, Albert Hall and the bazaars – are a second day, and the two together are the right way to see Jaipur. See places to visit in Jaipur for those.

Heading out of the city? Bhangarh and Abhaneri are a day east, Ranthambore is 180 km for a tiger safari, and the full circuit is on our Golden Triangle tour package.

Frequently Asked Questions: Jaipur Fort Tour

Timings, which fort people wrongly skip, and tickets.

How many forts are there in Jaipur?
Three on the ridge north of the city: Amber, the palace; Jaigarh, the fortress above it that defended it; and Nahargarh, the watchpost with the best view over Jaipur. A full day covers all three.
What time should I visit Amber Fort?
As it opens, around 8 AM. By ten the courtyards are crowded and the Sheesh Mahal becomes a queue. Early also means cooler, which matters from March onwards given the climb.
Is Nahargarh Fort worth visiting?
Yes, and it is the one most itineraries drop. Madhavendra Bhawan inside is a set of nine linked suites built for the maharaja’s queens, and the view over Jaipur from the ramparts is the best in the city. It is also a good place to be at sunset.
What is the Jaivana cannon at Jaigarh?
An 18th-century cannon cast at Jaigarh, among the largest wheeled cannons ever made. It is the main reason to go up to Jaigarh beyond the fort itself and the views down over Amber.
Should I take the elephant ride at Amber?
We neither sell nor arrange elephant rides. The numbers are limited, they operate in the morning only, and the jeep ride up is the practical alternative – or the walk, which is a steady fifteen minutes.
Do I need a guide for the Jaipur forts?
At Amber, yes – it is a large palace with very little interpretation, and the Sheesh Mahal, Ganesh Pol and the carved magic flower need someone to point them out. Jaigarh and Nahargarh are more self-explanatory.
Is there a composite ticket for Jaipur monuments?
Yes, a composite ticket covers Amber, Nahargarh, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal and several other sites, and is cheaper than buying separately if you are seeing a few. Entry fees are not included in the tour fare.
How long does the fort tour take?
Eight to nine hours door to door: two and a half at Amber, an hour and a half at Jaigarh, an hour at Nahargarh, plus the stepwell, Jal Mahal and lunch.
Can the forts and the city be done in one day?
Not properly. The three forts are a full day and the city sights – City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, the bazaars – are another. Two days is the right allocation for Jaipur.
How do I book the Jaipur fort tour?
WhatsApp +91 99838 89373 or email rajasthanonwheeltours@gmail.com with your date, hotel name, passenger count and whether you want a licensed guide. A 25% advance confirms the vehicle.
