Bike Rental in Udaipur

Bike Rental in Udaipur: Scooters and Motorcycles on Rent

Udaipur is a good city to ride and a bad city to drive. The old town around Jagdish Temple and Gangaur Ghat is a grid of lanes too narrow for a car, parking near the City Palace is a problem on any busy day, and the hill roads out to Sajjangarh and Badi Lake are more enjoyable on two wheels than four. For a solo traveller or a couple, bike rental in Udaipur is usually the better choice.

We arrange automatic scooters and motorcycles by the day or by the week, delivered to your hotel if that is easier. Tell us what you want to ride and how long for, and we will confirm availability and the current rate for your dates.

What You Can Hire

Type Suits Good for
Automatic scooter (110–125cc class) Solo riders and couples, any licence holder City riding, the old town lanes, Fateh Sagar and Sajjangarh
Commuter motorcycle (150–180cc class) Riders comfortable with gears City plus day trips of 50–100 km
Larger motorcycle (350cc and above) Experienced riders only Longer rides to Kumbhalgarh, Ranakpur, Mount Abu

Availability varies by season and by date – October to March is peak and the better machines go first. Rates depend on the model and the length of hire, so message us with your dates for a current quote rather than relying on a figure that may be months out of date.

What You Will Need to Rent

  • A valid driving licence. For a geared motorcycle it must cover geared two-wheelers; a licence endorsed only for non-gear vehicles is not enough. International visitors should carry an International Driving Permit alongside their home licence.
  • Photo ID. Passport for international visitors, Aadhaar or similar for Indian residents.
  • A security deposit. Standard practice across rental operators. We will tell you the amount when we quote.
  • A helmet. Helmets are legally required in Rajasthan for the rider, and the law also covers pillion riders. Wear one regardless of what you see other people doing.

Riding in Udaipur: Honest Advice

The old city is tight. Lanes near Jagdish Temple and Gangaur Ghat are narrow, two-way in practice whatever the signs say, and shared with pedestrians, cows and delivery handcarts. Ride slowly; it is not a place to make progress.

Traffic does not follow the rules you are used to. Expect vehicles from any direction, overtaking on both sides, and limited use of indicators. Riders used to European or North American roads should take the first hour gently.

Avoid riding after dark outside the city. Unlit roads, livestock and oncoming high beams make rural night riding genuinely risky. Plan day trips to be back before sunset.

The monsoon changes everything. July to September brings slick roads, poor visibility and standing water that hides potholes. If you are not an experienced wet-weather rider, take a car those months.

Fuel is on you. Rental vehicles are normally supplied with whatever is in the tank. Check the level before you set off and confirm the fuel policy when you collect.

Eklingji and Nagda 22 km 125cc and up

Carry water, keep your licence and ID on you rather than in the top box, and save our number before you leave the city.

Travelling as a family, or in the monsoon? A car rental in Udaipur is the more sensible option, and our sightseeing day tour covers the city with a driver and guide.

Frequently Asked Questions: Bike Rental in Udaipur

Rates, licence and helmet requirements, and honest advice on riding here.

How much does bike rental in Udaipur cost?
Rates depend on the model and how long you want it for, and they move with the season, so we quote on enquiry rather than publish a figure that would be out of date within months. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 99838 89373 with your dates and what you want to ride, and we will come back with the current rate and the deposit.
What documents do I need to rent a bike in Udaipur?
A valid driving licence – and for a geared motorcycle it must cover geared two-wheelers, not just non-gear vehicles. Photo ID, which for international visitors means your passport, plus an International Driving Permit alongside your home licence. A security deposit is standard.
Can I rent a scooter without a licence?
No. A valid licence is a legal requirement for riding any two-wheeler on Indian roads, including automatic scooters, and no legitimate operator will hand over a vehicle without seeing one.
Is a helmet mandatory in Udaipur?
Yes. Helmets are legally required in Rajasthan for the rider, and the law covers pillion riders too. Wear one whatever you see other people doing – the roads here give you less room for error than you may be used to.
Is it safe to ride a bike in Udaipur?
In the city, yes, with care – ride slowly in the old town, expect traffic from any direction and limited use of indicators. Outside the city, avoid riding after dark: unlit roads, livestock and oncoming high beams make rural night riding genuinely risky. In the monsoon, from July to September, take a car unless you are an experienced wet-weather rider.
Can you deliver the bike to my hotel?
Yes, in most of the city. Tell us where you are staying when you book and we will arrange delivery and collection rather than making you find the pickup point.
Which bike is best for riding to Kumbhalgarh or Ranakpur?
Both are 85 to 90 km each way with hill sections, so a 350cc or larger motorcycle and an experienced rider. A 125cc scooter will physically get there but it is a long, tiring and exposed day. Many people prefer a car for these and keep the bike for the city.
Is fuel included in the rental?
No. Rental vehicles are supplied with whatever fuel is in the tank and you pay for your own. Check the level before you ride off and confirm the fuel policy with us when you collect.
Can two people ride on one scooter?
Legally yes, with helmets for both. Practically, a 110cc scooter two-up struggles on the climb to Sajjangarh – take a 125cc or larger if you are riding as a pair.
