One Way Taxi from Udaipur to Chittorgarh

One Way Taxi from Udaipur to Chittorgarh

Chittorgarh is 115 km from Udaipur, about two and a half hours on NH48, and it holds the largest fort in India – roughly 700 acres on a hill 180 metres above the plain. It is also the one stop that turns the long Udaipur–Jaipur drive into something worth doing, because it sits directly on that road.

We run one way taxi from Udaipur to Chittorgarh as a drop, as a round-trip day tour, and as a break on the way to Jaipur, Bundi or Kota.

Why You Need the Car Inside the Fort

This is the practical thing most visitors get wrong. Chittorgarh is not a fort you walk around – it is a walled town on a plateau, with the main monuments a kilometre or more apart. The road runs through it, and our driver takes you from one to the next, waits, and moves on. Attempting it on foot in the heat is how people end up seeing two monuments and giving up.

What to See at Chittorgarh Fort

Monument What it is Time
Vijay Stambh The nine-storey Tower of Victory, 1448, covered in carved figures. Climbable. 45 min
Rana Kumbha Palace The oldest palace in the fort, and where the first jauhar is said to have taken place in 1303. 30 min
Rani Padmini Palace The pavilion in the lotus pool, tied to the legend of Alauddin Khilji and the mirror. 30 min
Kirti Stambh The 12th-century Tower of Fame, a Jain tower older than the Vijay Stambh. 20 min
Meera Temple Where the poet-saint Meera Bai is said to have worshipped. 20 min
Kalika Mata Temple An 8th-century sun temple later converted to a Kali shrine. 20 min
Gaumukh Reservoir The spring-fed tank that let the fort survive long sieges. 15 min
Fateh Prakash Palace Now a museum of sculpture and local archaeology. 30 min

Allow three hours inside at minimum. The fort was sacked three times – 1303, 1535 and 1568 – and the story of those sieges is what the place is really about; a guide is worth it here more than at most Rajasthan forts.

Chittorgarh as a Stop, Not a Destination

If you are heading to Jaipur, Bundi or Kota, Chittorgarh is the obvious break. Udaipur to Jaipur is 395 km and seven to eight hours; stopping here for three hours turns a hard day into a reasonable one and means you see the largest fort in the country instead of a service station. Tell us the full route and we quote it as one journey rather than two.

See our Chittorgarh fort day tour for the round-trip version, or Udaipur to Jaipur taxi if you are continuing.

One Way or Round Trip?

We quote both. On a one-way drop the car still has to return empty, and that empty leg – dead mileage – is built into most one-way fares in Rajasthan. Where we can pair your drop with a passenger travelling the other way it disappears and the fare comes down, which is why it is worth giving us a specific date rather than assuming the per-km rate times the distance is final.

What we will not do is quote one figure and add the return leg as a surprise at the end of the journey. See our Udaipur outstation taxi page for all routes.

  3. Confirm. A 25% advance holds the vehicle; Indian guests by bank transfer or UPI, international guests by PayPal or Wise.

Frequently Asked Questions: Udaipur to Chittorgarh Taxi

Distance, day-trip timing, why you need the car inside the fort.

How far is Chittorgarh from Udaipur?
About 115 km, two and a half hours on NH48 going east. It sits directly on the Udaipur–Jaipur road, which is why it works so well as a stop rather than a separate trip.
How much is a taxi from Udaipur to Chittorgarh?
Quoted on our per-kilometre rates – from ₹12/km for a sedan, ₹16/km for an Ertiga or Innova – including fuel, driver allowance, state tax and toll. A one-way drop and a full-day round trip price differently; call +91 86193 15547 with your date.
Can Chittorgarh be done as a day trip from Udaipur?
Yes, and it is a comfortable full day – roughly five hours of driving and three to four hours at the fort. Leave Udaipur by 8 am and you are back for dinner.
Do I need a car inside Chittorgarh Fort?
Yes, and this is the detail that catches people out. The fort covers about 700 acres with the monuments a kilometre or more apart, so our driver takes you between them and waits. Doing it on foot, especially in the heat, means seeing a fraction of it.
How long do I need at Chittorgarh Fort?
Three hours as a minimum for the Vijay Stambh, Rana Kumbha Palace, Rani Padmini Palace and Meera Temple. Four if you want the Kirti Stambh, the museum and a guide telling you the story of the three sieges properly.
Is Chittorgarh worth stopping at on the way to Jaipur?
Very much so. The Udaipur–Jaipur drive is 395 km and seven to eight hours, and Chittorgarh is the only thing on it genuinely worth three hours. Breaking the journey there makes the day reasonable instead of punishing.
Is there an entry fee at Chittorgarh Fort?
Yes, there is a ticket for the fort monuments, paid separately from the taxi fare, and camera fees may apply at some sites. Our fare covers the vehicle, fuel, driver allowance, tax, toll and parking.
What is the best time to visit Chittorgarh?
October to March for the weather, since the fort involves walking in the open with very little shade. If you are travelling April to June, start early and be off the plateau by midday.
Can you continue from Chittorgarh to Bundi or Kota?
Yes. Bundi is about 155 km on and Kota about 190 km, so both work as onward legs. Pushkar and Jaipur are also common continuations. Give us the full route and we will quote it as one journey.
How do I book a one way taxi to Chittorgarh?
WhatsApp +91 99838 89373 or email rajasthanonwheeltours@gmail.com with your date, pickup time and address, drop address or onward destination, and passenger count. A 25% advance confirms the vehicle.
